Carl Pavarini
SVP and Corporate Officer, Lucent Technologies (retired)
In 1999, Dr. Pavarini completed a 26 year career with Lucent Technologies and AT&T/Bell Labs. He spent 10 years at Bell Laboratories in applied research and product development. Subsequently, he held numerous business management positions, most often with P&L responsibility for global products and services. His responsibilities ranged from $1B+ existing businesses to internal start-ups in new market/product areas. He was a vice president and corporate officer of both AT&T and Lucent.
He is currently an active investor in, and advisor to, technology-based companies in the telecommunications, internet infrastructure, optical components, and applications software markets. He works actively with angel investors and VCs, and serves on the boards of several start-ups. He is also currently Visiting Executive at Stevens Institute of Technology, and adjunct professor in the School of Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he is an alumnus. He previously taught entrepreneurship in telecommunications and electronic media in the MBA program of the Graduate School of Business of Columbia University.
