Russ Howard
Russ Howard, Managing Director
Russ is a founding Partner of High Peaks and brings over twenty years of business and investing experience to High Peaks. Russ led High Peaks’ investment in Auterra and serves on the company’s board of directors. Prior to the formation of High Peaks, Russ was a Managing Director with The Berkshires Capital Investors (BCI), a western Massachusetts-based early stage venture capital fund that is also part of the Village Ventures network of funds. At BCI Russ invested in numerous start-up companies including VoodooVox, Optasite, and Waterfront Media.
Prior to joining BCI, Russ was a Senior Vice President in the Technology and Communications Group at GE Equity, the venture capital arm of GE Capital. During his six-year tenure with GE Equity from 1994 to 2000, Russ was responsible for numerous investments in technology companies including CyberSource, CommerceOne, Acuity, and Launch Media. Prior to GE Equity, Russ worked for Equitable Capital Management and Alliance Capital Management in New York City and for The Futures Group, a Connecticut-based management consulting company.
Russ holds an M.B.A. from the Darden School at the University of Virginia and a B.A. cum laude in Economics from Williams College. He has served as a board representative for many private companies and has also been a frequent speaker and panelist at venture capital conferences.
